Today we are covering all stimulus check updates and other related updates that we have as of May 19. Stimulus checks are taking a really long time to get to people. Weeks and weeks pass and several people still haven’t received their stimulus check. The Department of Treasury introduced “Economic Impact Payments (EIP) Cards. These cards will be sent out by MetaBank this week. The EIP Cards work very similarly to any normal card… They can be used at ATMs, account balances can be checked online, and they can be used online or at any retailer that accepts Visa. The cards will be going to 4 million Americans, specifically those whose tax returns were processed in the Andover or Austin IRS Service Center.
The IRS is also adding 3,500 phone representatives to help answer all of your stimulus check questions. The number to call is 1-800-919-9835
Several states across the US are beginning to slowly reopen but things are certainly not normal… This crisis has had a massive effect on the economy and it doesn’t seem to be over quite yet. Over 30 million Americans have filed for unemployment and several Americans are in dire need of another stimulus check. The HEROES Act that was passed in the House last week probably won’t even reach the Senate until after Memorial Day. Although it has been marked as Dead On Arrival, we will see if it becomes a starting ground for some sort of second stimulus bill.
