Anti-government protesters wearing orange vests protested in Rome's Piazza del Popolo on Tuesday, demanding the removal of the coronavirus restrictions and the resignation of the government followed by elections.

One of the founders of the Orange Vests movement, former Carabinieri General Antonio Pappalardo, was present at the rally.

Protesters were seen waving Italian flags and booing at a picture of Microsoft founder Bill Gates.

Orange Vests protesters are denying the existence of COVID-19, accusing it of being a hoax of "strong powers" who want to establish a new world order.

Protesters also demanded the approval of a new electoral law, exit from the eurozone and tighter migration controls.
