Well, after 13 years in the railfanning hobby, I very unexpectedly caught my first nasty train derailment on camera. My friend Andy and I were chasing Reading and Northern's NRFF7, which now runs from North Reading, PA to Pittston, PA thanks to the completion of the brand new bridge over the Lehigh River in Jim Thorpe. After chasing the train, we made it to our fifth shot. NRFF rounded the curve with a trio of SD50s for power, SD50M 5033 ahead of ex CSX SD50-2s 5019 and 5020 with 32 cars in tow. Well, as the train came around the corner, I noticed dirt and sparks flying as the rear six cars of the train left the tracks before my very eyes, a cause is still unknown, all parties involved were not hurt..
