Osdorp is neighbourhood of Amsterdam, Netherlands. A larger area was, from 1981 until 2010, a stadsdeel (borough) of Amsterdam and in 2010 was merged into the new borough of Amsterdam Nieuw-West.(Wikipedia)
Osdorp, which was mainly built in the 1950s and 1960s, is one of the Western Garden Towns. The Osdorpplein shopping centre was opened in 1964, with a square and the Meervaart theatre. The area is now home to many popular retailers – as well as a market arcade and an outdoor market on Tuesdays.
Since the end of the 1990s, part of Osdorp has been re-developed through a process of demolition and new construction. Much of the old housing was replaced with several already iconic buildings by acclaimed modern architects. This has led to a greater variety of dwellings and other improvements in the area. Development is particularly noticeable in and around Osdorpplein (Nieuw-West Centre). Osdorp also includes a more rural area outside the urban zone: Lutkemeer/Ookmeer. (amsterdam.nl)
